Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary Party

Jessica had a great time today in downtown St. Louis celebrating the GS 100th anniversary.  There were countless booths, food giveaways, and arts and crafts opportunities.  If you'd like to see two photos of Jessica as a crazy cookie scientist, follow this link:

Bryan's Report from Europe

I haven't had access to the internet for a good long time, so i apologize for my delay in updating you on my travels.  here's the itinerary that you've missed so far:

june 5-fly to london
june 6-london; rode the london eye; visited the tower of london; rain
june 7-london in the morning; high speed train to france; arrive in paris; walking tour to notre dame; rain
june 8-paris; visited the louvre, specifically the large monuments from easter island; walked about the city; morning rain, afternoon sun
june 9-paris until early evening; high speed overnight train to italy; slept horribly as my bunk was just too confined in the sleep coach; arrived in florence; walking tour of the downtown area; sun
june 10-florence; went up to the top of the cathedral; rain in morning; sun in afternoon
june 11-left florence for rome; arrived in rome; bus tour of rome at night, some walking to the trevi fountain; sun
june 12-rome; the colosseum, forum, and other ancient monuments in morning; vatican museum and st. peter's cathedral in afternoon--again, climbed to the top of the dome for the veiw of vatican city; sun
june 13-left rome for pompeii; long day on the bus; sun
june 14-pompeii, walking tour of the ruins, which are amazing; sun
june 15-left pompeii for the coastal city of brindisi for the overnight ferry to greece; slept wonderfully as i had a single cabin with a very comfortable bed; watched england come from behind to win their european championships soccer game

today, we arrived in greece and swam in the mediterranean sea.  whew, was the water cold, but refreshing as the greek temperature was nearly 100 degrees.  getting ready to go watch greece play their final first round game against russia.  greece must win if it hopes to advance to the next round.  so, i'll be seeing some grown men cry out of happiness or sadness as we soon shall learn.

tomorrow: the temple of delphi and bus travel to athens.

monday: athens.

tuesday: fly home.

i'll update the rest when i return home in a couple days.

Memorial Day at Carlyle Lake

Today, we traveled to Illinois to join Bryan's co-worker Michele on her boat on the lake.  Unfortunately, Michele and her husband couldn't get the motor to turn over, so we had to abandon the boat ride and take to the beach instead.  We enjoyed her taste of the beach and were very satisfied with our day at Carlyle, which he hadn't even known existed before today.  We'll definitely be back.

1st visit to Hurricane Harbor

Today, Hurricane Harbor opened for the first time of the season and we were there, along with a couple thousand other people.  We were in line before the doors actually opened, which mean that we got lounge chairs easily and had only a small line to wait in to ride the four-story high family raft ride, which was a first time for pablo.  We stayed only a couple hours because Jessica had another birthday party to attend.  Here's a photo from the day:

Lejla's Birthday Party

so, this party actually happened on May 13, but it's easier to see in blogdrive if my entries are uploaded in date order.

Lejla is Jessica's friend from primary school; they are in the same first grade class together.  Lejla's swim party was at the Arnold Community Center, which has little party rooms bordering the indoor pool area.  Jessica was disappointed that she was about one inch too short for the enclosed slide, but she still had a great time anyway, especially trying to get away from Lejla's dad pretending to be a water monster.  Pablo had a good time, too, eventually being willing to get his face wet so that he could go down the kiddie slide.  Here's a photo from the day, with the newly-seven-year-old Lejla on the right:

Pablo's Graduation--Already?!

Today, Pablo graduated from...preschool!  The Affton Early Childhood Center has a great little program that they put together, including caps and gowns for the graduates, a slideshow of the graduates engaged in activities throughout the year, and some songs with gestures that are integral to the preschool experience.  In attendance were Jessica, Cady, Bryan who did not have to proctor exams this day, and Mrs. Jackie who took all of us out for ice cream afterward.  Which then extended into dinner at Pablo's favorite place, Sweet Tomatoes.  Here's a photo from this day:
